VENTURA YACHT CLUB'S CAPSIZE DRILL
Q. What is a capsize drill?
A. Capsizing is a natural part of sailing, and may occur even in the most tranquil conditions. Along with their swim test, students must complete a mandatory capsize drill. This drill takes place at the Guest Dock to provide a safe place for their first capsize. After a demonstration, students flip their boat and right it themselves. Capsizing is a potential for all boats big and small, and teaching students to remain cool under pressure helps keep them safe while giving them another chance to get in the water and learn something new!
