Ventura Yacht Club will began hosting a race team for the CFJ class of boat in the summer of 2024. This race team attends VYC's own summer regatta, The Dog Days Regatta, and travels to multiple yacht clubs for the SCYYRA Shadden Series. Please read our program guides for more information on this team.
CFJ RACE TEAMVYC's CFJ Race Team is appropriate for students 12-18 who have sailed FJ's previously and/or for those with previous dinghy racing experience, such as on VYC's Opti Race Teams. As a doublehanded boat, teamwork is crucial, and at this level of competition, it is expected that sailing will be each students' top athletic priority. The commitment to attending both practices and regattas is key to success.

THE CFJSailed in both High School and Collegiate races, the CFJ made its premier in 1956 in the Netherlands, and continues to steal the hearts of sailors young and old with its easy-to-rig, easy-to-race structure and capability. A narrow bow and rounded hull allows for a fast upwind, though sacrifices ease of planing. Different standing rigging allows for a symmetrical spinnaker to be flown.
